Flowers in full bloom represent a peak in beauty, and glass frames represent the showcasing of something beautiful. In my piece, individual petals from dismantled flowers are painted onto broken shards of glass. Framed together and colored brightly, these objects showcase that brokenness can be just as decorative and appealing as perfection. My idea to use colorful flower petals is inspired by CJ Hendry’s “Epilogue” exhibition, which features hyper-realistic colored pencil drawings of flower petals.
