While browsing an antique shop in Ludington, Michigan, I was captivated by this Ball jar for the striking distortion of light through its embossed logo. In addition, the lettering itself reveals a piece of the object’s history: the extra loop in the Ball script identifies the jar as having been produced between 1900 and 1910. The painting reflects both the visual beauty and historical character found by looking more closely at an everyday object.
