Order of a Storm

Charcoal on toned paper, 2019 | Regional Gold Key

This piece is inspired by a view I had looking up through a boat window after a storm. The reflections in the background of the composition create a sense of confusion, and each water droplet in the foreground further distorts the scene. This represents the chaos created by a storm. However, each droplet seems to be specifically arranged by the storm, resulting in a calming sense of order that contrasts with the chaos and confusion delivered by the storm.
